Well judging has well and truly commenced for the 2025 Australian Business Book Awards. The awards celebrate the best business books by Australian authors, recognising excellence across a range of categories including leadership, marketing, personal development, entrepreneurship, and more. Each year, the awards highlight the authors, publishers and thought leaders who are shaping the way we do business in Australia.
We held the entry shortlisting day recently at “The Wheeler Centre” in Melbourne. It’s a day where a group of judges work their way through every single book to determine those that go onto the next round.
We love the day and at the same time it’s an integral part of the overall judging process. From here, those books that make it through get comprehensively judged by 3 judges, looking at everything from relevance to the topic, editing, cover, internal layout – the lot.

The awards ceremony happens online in November. So plenty of work to do between now and then. A big thank you to all of the judges who gave up their time freely as well as the 30 or so judges involved in the overall process.
And thanks to Michael Hanrahan and Anna Clemann from Publish Central for organising the day. For the book nerds amongst us, it’s the perfect day of catching up with friends, talking all things books and catching up on what’s going on in the industry.
Cheers,
Andrew
PS The ABBA’s are not for profit – every year we make a donation of any excess funds to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. To date we’ve been able to donate over $60,000 to fund programmes around Australia.
