The goal of book writing has never been to do it fast. It has always been to write and publish a book well.
Right now, there is an enormous sense of urgency around book writing. Get it written quickly. Use AI to speed everything up. Create a cover, press publish and move on to the next thing.But faster does not automatically mean better.
The best books are deeply considered, carefully structured, properly researched and shaped by the author’s genuine experience. In many cases, the thinking behind a meaningful book has taken 10, 20 or even 40 years to develop.
That is where the humanity comes from
It is where the original ideas, challenging perspectives and hard-earned wisdom come from. And it is what gives a book the substance to remain valuable long after it has been published.
AI can certainly help an author. But an AI prompt cannot replace decades of experience, deep contemplation or a point of view that has been earned through actually doing the work.
So, if you are writing your first book, don’t become obsessed with getting it out as quickly as possible.
Become obsessed with making it magnificent.
Create something thoughtful. Something significant. Something genuinely useful. Something that matters.
Because a rushed book may briefly fill a gap in the market, but a world-class book can help you build a business of substance around it for many years to come.
